Description
Millennium Bridge is a foot bridge across the River Thames in London, leading from the Tate Modern on the south bank to the City of London School on the north side. Walking across the Millennium Bridge from the south bank, you have a clear view of St Paul's Cathedral in front of you. It is only a short walk to the cathedral once you exit the bridge.
Officially named London Millennium Footbridge, it was constructed from 1998 and opened in June of the millennium year 2000. On the opening day, pedestrians found the bridge swayed alarmingly and it was immediately closed again for further work. It became known as the Wobbly Bridge and required a further two years of construction work to stabilise it, before re-opening in 2002.
This is a four minute long exposure black and white photograph, which has smoothed out the water and blurred the clouds into streaks across the sky.
