Description
Coupeville is a small town on the shores of Penn Cove on Whidbey Island and one of the oldest communities in Washington State. Coupeville Wharf was built in 1905 and was historically used to export Whidbey Island produced grain. Mosquito Fleet steamers ferried passengers from Coupeville Wharf to Seattle in the days before the Deception Pass bridge was built.
Coupeville was named after Captain Thomas Coupe who established the town in the 1850s.
