Description
Harpa, the concert hall and conference centre in the heart of Reykjavik, is one of Iceland's most well known and distinctive landmarks. Harpa was opened in 2011 and its award winning architecture features coloured glass which was inspired by the landscape of Iceland.
Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavik has some of the best facilities for concerts and conferences in northern Europe and has won many awards. The Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Icelandic Opera and the Reykjavik Big Band all perform many concerts at Harpa every year.
The name Harpa was chosen from over 4000 proposals submitted by the citizens of Iceland. Harpa is an old Icelandic word for the harp musical instrument and also the name of a month in the old Nordic calendar.
