Description
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is an ancient stone theatre on the slopes of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Herodes Atticus was a wealthy Athenian who had it built in 161 AD in memory of his wife. It originally had a capacity of 5000 and a wooden roof, but was made a ruin in 267. In modern times, it has hosted concerts by many artists, including Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra, Luciano Pavarotti, Vangellis, Sting and Elton John.
